We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Mose : Thu Oct 30, 2014 5:59 pm
It's always the case with imports when they go home mid-season, rumours start cirulating that they ain't coming back.

Thing is if they are not coming back then you tend to get a report not a rumour.

A bit like the Hull KR player.

I would not give a free transfer for any player under contract.

I don't think he's totally crap but I do think he picks and chooses when he wants to play well and we carried him last year at times especially Amor who did his hard yards.

I'd be more worried if Amor or walmsley was asking to leave as I do think we can replace Mose as IMO based on his performances over a entire season he's just a run of the mill impact prop.

Rubbish. Mose arrived in terrible shape (mainly through a bad injury) and it's a miracle we managed to get any game time out of him in the first third of the season. From that point he was left on his Jack Jones by Amor & Walmsley and yet he never failed to give 100% whilst putting himself through a crash fitness course which is mostly undertaken by players in the pre-season. Other imports with less of a physical handicap could easily have folded. But Mose didn't. Indeed, any rational observer could plot a clear and consistent upward curve in Mose's game right through to the playoffs. At that point he "picked" or "chose" to beat the snot out of our opponents' most physical players. Which is a role Saints' fans have been crying out for ever since the retirement of Sculthorpe.

Mose EARNED the good things that came to him in the final. Cut the guy some slack - especially when the two guys you mentioned played little more than half a season.

Oh, and the Mose of the playoffs will be a bloody hard asset to replace.

Rubbish? Really?

Mose was massively overweight when he came over for the World Cup (injury free). Watch the videos of the first World Cup game and he was fat as can be.

Saints wasn't happy when they met up with him after the kiwi game at the size of him. Obviously he then got hurt and piled more weight on.

I do give him credit for getting in shape, it's pretty clear he Trained but does that make him have a good season ? No!

If every saints fan is brutally honest, I'd guess they would say they expected more from Mose avd was let down. Don't forget Mose commented himself about his down not being good enough.

As every leeds fans will tell you, the regular season is just a series of friendlies leading to the playoffs. In the playoffs Masoes contribution would be near impossible to replace at this point if he decides to leave. If he wants to leave at the end of his contract, that's a different matter.

Would it be better if his playoff performances extended into the regular season next year? Of course. Is it entirely possible it will, given his attitude adjustment to the league and having a full preseason? Absolutely.

Your judging Masoe on performances he wouldn't of played had Amor and Walmsley not been injured.

Mose got better and better as the season wore on, I agree with most of Mugwump's post in that he never got a pre season and only got somewhere match fit after about 8 games. Our most dissapointing prop has been Walmsley for a spell, then we had Amor struggling for form after injury, for quite a few games we had to rely on Mose and LMS in my opinion they stood up to the task until the cavalary arrived.

Mose played as well as his physical condition allowed. That's all any fair minded fan can ask. Once he'd shed the bulk of his weight (around a third of the season in) he played consistently better each game.

I do give him credit for getting in shape, it's pretty clear he Trained but does that make him have a good season ? No!

He played just about every game this season. For much of it he was Saints only big forward. He certainly had a better year than both Amor and Walmsley who were both out for what seemed like an age.

If every saints fan is brutally honest, I'd guess they would say they expected more from Mose avd was let down. Don't forget Mose commented himself about his down not being good enough.

He commented on his EARLY season form. What about the remaining two thirds. What about WHEN IT MATTERED?

His first 9 min spell in the grand final showed he has bad fitness issues. After 7 mins he was down on his knees again totally shattered.

Maybe I'm just used to seeing proper props in the saints shirt over the years like fairleigh, graham, Britt, Apollo etc.

All I know, if Lms or a Amor played with the lack of effort Mose did, you lot would be up in arms.

This is pure confirmation bias. How about mentioning any one of several others that ALSO looked jiggered.

In any case - props are judged by the PURPOSE. Amor is more of an endurance forward whilst Mose's job is to suck in defenders and dominate the opponent's physical players.

Mose smashed Wigan's pack. He smashed Wigan's pack AT Wigan. And let's not forget him smashing the Catalans pack - which I believe is a better pack than Wigan's anyway. Certainly more physical.

You think Mose is a defensive liability. I'll bet you there aren't many forwards who relish running anywhere near him.

Maybe I'm just used to seeing proper props in the saints shirt over the years like fairleigh, graham, Britt, Apollo etc.

What do you mean by "proper" props? You've named at least three distinct types of prop (one of whom was a second row for all but 18 months of his career) - two of which would be unlikely bed-fellows in any pack playing today.

Mose is a specialist prop whose assets are narrowly defined. Judged on his own he's a weak link. Judged in conjunction with a TEAM of props he's perfect for the job.

All I know, if Lms or a Amor played with the lack of effort Mose did, you lot would be up in arms.

There's a difference between playing to the best of your ability with 25lbs strapped to your back and not giving a damn. Maybe one day you'll understand this.
