Powell was unfortunate at Leeds in that he was thrown into the job too early. He never really looked like turning the team into winners (despite what some Smith haters say). In retrospect its worked out really well for him, but I can't recall a case of a player becoming a good head coach overnight - and generally it seems to work out worse when its at the same club they played for.

Powell now seems like the best young British coach around by some distance, and unless he stays at Cas he ought to be the first name for any of the top teams looking for a new coach.

I wouldn't say he was miles ahead of Paul Anderson. I'd have them fairy close. If I remember right, he took over a Huddersfield side that had lost 10 games in a row before Brown went on his way. He's made them incredibly difficult to beat and with Brough, Robinson and co they do play some good rugby.

Radford is doing a decent job at Hull too to be fair. Chester has got Hull KR to a challenge cup final.

Powell's done a great job, but he's not the only one.

How many champions have put a complete rookie i charge ? KC hasn't even coached a team at any level so he's learning on the job. That might be great for him but not for the club as you surely you can even see we are boring, clueless and no creativity.

Sean long his assistant is still a young man learning as well and not had a great deal of experience.

I'm not calling for KC to be sacked, ive never once said he should go but he's struggling and is naive at the moment. I think anyone with half of brain will say this job came to early for him. The plan was for 2016 after Brown left but obviously Brown went a year early. Kc knew last June he had the job by the way.

I'm simply suggesting that maybe a experninced head coming in for two years might be helpful. Simeone who's been there and done it and can help KC.

I don't see the big deal in that ?

Do you KNOW Keiron Cunnigham? I do. He played alongside my kid brother before he went to Saints and the two hang about quite often.

My point is - Keiron Cunningham is opinionated, strong-minded and not afraid to kick up a fuss should things not go his way. Now, we can argue about whether these attributes together are a good combination. But if you think he'll just meekly sit in McManus' office whilst an obvious threat to his position is brought in ostensibly to "work with him" - you clearly don't know enough about the guy.

I'd be astonished if such an action didn't result in the detonation of any working relationship between the two. Which leaves us nowhere - unless your aim really is to force Cunningham out the door.

Yes I do know him. I know him still to this day and not someone who knew him 20yrs ago. He's a very quite soft spoken laid back guy.

And your point ?

Re: Daryl Powell : Mon Aug 17, 2015 8:42 pm
The post below was started on the leeds board in July 2011, Brian McDermott's first season in charge.

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=500492

I don't recommend reading it all, the first pages will serve to remind of the levels of disenchantment among some elements of our support.

I see no reason why KC can't be every bit as successful as BMcD.

Who said anything about twenty years passing since we last spoke? Are we back to your usual trick of arguing what you WISH I'D SAID rather than what I ACTUALLY SAID because I have to say that's really tiresome.

And since when did the volume and timbre of someone's voice have anything to do with his personality? Keiron wasn't so "soft" and "laid back" when he was dictating terms to the club after the Welsh RFU came calling. Indeed, it was "my way or the highway" when it came to his FIRST major contract extension (whilst Wigan were yapping at his heels for a signature).

Keiron might be seem like a pretty chilled out guy - but he's not soft. He's no-one's fool and when it comes time for business he won't be messed about. It's a bit of a family trait.

And your point ?

Not getting involved with you. You make me laugh. You just can't accept that we are so poor and boring at the moment it's unreal. Your constant excuses have made you a laughing stock on nearly every board on here.

I bid you farewell Geoff of haydock as im not going to reply to another of your posts but I'll certainly look forward to reading your weekly excuses.

Don't project your character flaws onto me. I really don't care what anyone thinks of either me or my posts. It's called - self-confidence. And I have it in spades.

In case you have somehow missed my recent posts (which is surprising given that you seem OBSESSED with everything I write) - I have already described our recent performances as "poor".

The difference between me and you is that I don't press the panic button every time we lose. This is primarily because - losing is a STATISTICAL CERTAINTY.

Refused to do a interview with Sky after the game tonight Cunningham. Probably the best thing to do so he doesn't embarrass this club any further with his un professional rants.

He did one, I just watched it on sky +.
