Re: Move on : Fri Sep 25, 2015 7:36 am
Despite us being very poor (and the 2nd best team), we still could have snatched it with 10 to go.

Take out LMS’s hatful of ridiculous penalties and errors, we may have even led earlier on. Hell, if Jordan Turner (a normally very good finisher) doesn’t lose that ball, things could have turned out very different. Its hard to be too critical of LMS as he obviously tries very hard, but he’s full of stupid (and pressure relieving) mistakes. Maybe he’s doing too many minutes and the fatigue is addling his brain.

However, we are (again) being totally out played at the ruck. We never show the ability to slow the oppositions PTB, whilst allowing them to slow ours. This is the greatest problem we have by far.

Walsh simply is not offering enough. He’s not injecting himself into the game, sitting back, 10 yards from the line and then offering a laboured drop off is doing nothing. His long kicking is not happening, either, being out shone by Wilkin and Turner (and Sandow). We’d be better moving Wilkin to 7 and taking the extra big man.

We look rubbish. But we did last week and beat Wigan. We also looked rubbish this time last year and won the whole thing. I find it hard to believe that will happen again this year, but I said the same last September.

i'm reading between the lines on last nights game. Wilkin was at the fans forum the night before and current players tend not to show up the night before a game, Alex Walmsley and Burns where rested and it also looked like we played to avoid injuries. I also believe that KC is counting on Leeds winning the title and i think he would rather play leeds away then wigan away.

Last night just felt a bit weird. Like the week before a challenge cup final were nobody wants to get hurt.

I'd have preferred a home game, but is there really much advantage to that amongst the top 4? Our place isn't the fortress like Knowsley Road. Leeds are beatable at Headingley, we've done Huddersfield on their 3/4's empty patch and we bring that many people to the DW it's like a neutral venue.

It's anybody's.

The big one is if we get Wigan. Their form is very different between home & away.

If last night was an attempt to avoid injuries, why not do a Millward? Rest Roby, Amor, Vea, Wilkin and do it properly? Roby didn't need the work he did last night.

It's amazing that we would rather play Leeds especially after them decimating plenty of teams including us this season, but I agree with you, Leeds look shot. Huddersfield could bottle it again. Wigan are the main threat, but if anyone can spoil their party it's their biggest rivals. Wane has probably been guilty of letting his emotions hijack his judgement a bit too much when facing us.

You lot are very disrespectful of any team that beats you.
We beat you fair and square last night and we were the better team.
Why don't you just have the sportsmanship to be gracious in defeat.

It's LONG season. It's very difficult to peak mentally for every game especially after a game like last weeks. So it's inevitable every team will have a few flat performances this season, and there's enough quality in this league to put any team to bed if you're not at the races.
To be fair to Warrington, they were excellent. All their key players were fantastic, and they're as good as anyone on their day. They will be much improved next season IMO, providing they add a couple of more players.

I live in Warrington and have done for 35 years. Nearly all my mates are wire fans and they were amazed by last nights performance by their team, given the performances over the last month or so that they have endured.

Maybe it helped wire to play with such freedom as it was their last match and with nothing at stake?
In any event they were the best team by a long way and the score did not flatter them.

You must remember though that you are on the Saints forum so people are not going to be concerned about how the opposition were, just how good or bad saints were (obviously very bad on this occasion).

The same will apply on your own forum.
