There's practically no money in the grand final

The cladding is nearly there now.

North stand is all but finished, all cladding is on just need to finish off the fascia trim to smarten it up

Corner of the east stand , showing all the trim in place to tidy up the corners and edging.

Image

With the easy stuff done they have now started on the awkward bits linking to the South Stand.

Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill)

The cladding improves the aesthetics of the stadium by an infinite amount. LP looks like a proper stadium now.

Does anyone know what the long term plans are regarding the 2 remaining open corners?

I'd assume there will be small bits left open to create airflow over the pitch

Does the really need to be parts left open to create air flow to the pitch ? Or is this just one of them things somebody once said and we all just went with.

The are loads of stadiums with no open areas to make a air flow and wouldn't the fact the pitch is outside give it sufficient air ?

It would be good of someone could reply with actual fact and not what they was told.

Im not an expert on these things Pete, however most modern stadiums built for real grass usually try to build in some way of getting air circulation at pitch level.

The traditional way is to leave corners open. however in enclosed stadiums they tend to have large entrances in corners that cover as emergency vehicle access. On none match days they then open the gates to these entrance ways and it lets the air get into the stadium.

I like to think of grass as a bit like hair, in that the hair on our bodies traps air to keep us warm. The grass doesn't need the air to keep warm but it will still have the same effect of stopping air circulating. A lack of circulation amongst the grass, suffocates it, and it dies. Hence by letting a breeze into the stadium at pitch level it keeps the grass healthy.

This article about an American stadium, shows that grass needs sunlight, air and water to grow.

Their solution is to employ large industrial fans to circulate air across the pitch. This obviously isn't cheap.

Is the corners really a problem anyway?

Just assuming here because I don't know if this is possible, but I'd prefer us to look (IF ever the time is right) to use that space to expand the stadium, like Warrington have done at their place.
