Bottom line for me is that it should not have been called a try before going to the video ref. That's what they are there for.

Smith knew it was in dispute as the second the ball was played all the Saints players protested. If he couldn't see it was dodgy then he shouldn't be a ref, if he was unsighted then that's what TJs and vid refs are for.

The vid ref would have sorted the legality of the PotB. If they are not going to be used for this sort of thing then it's a waste of time having them.

I think you are wrong; he clearly rolls the ball back with his hand (incorrect play the ball) then when his foot touches the ball it marginally moves forward - another incorrect play the ball. That's 2 infringements already - how many do you need??!!

Having said that if we looked at every incorrect play the ball then we'd not do much else.

Should definitely have been referred to Thaler irrespective.

It's quiet in the off season and you wonder how to generate conversation and then the season starts and we've already got a thread bagging one of our players and then the same weekly rant about the referee is trotted out.
