So? In the context of 2010 season, that's probably a lot!

Tweet from @martinoffiah 23/08/2011: 'Must admit i did love watching Saints- Cunningham Joynt Longy Tommy then Leon, last classic RL team ever'. Even the dark side can't help but love the rebellion.

Well, for a start, he won't be fully match fit until next season. Personally I'd give him next season and see where we stand then.

Yeah he hasn't done anything bannable. And i wasn't referring to his difference in opinion. I am referring to the fact that nearly all of his posts are putting saints down, always criticising the players or the team. He always puts other clubs before his own. I'm not the only one who's picked up on this. If you know he is a genuine, pessimistic Saints supporter i will make no more mention of it because i'm sure we can trust you to sniff out any pretenders.

Perry is a top class prop, he's big, tough and can play in good spells. IMO last year and the start of this year he was in top 3 props in the world.

Thrown round like a rag doll! Ask ben cross what happens when you try to throw the rag doll called perry about.

He missed the bank end of the year and only came back for the last 3 games.

Josh Perry a top class prop? Take it from someone who watches him almost every week. Perry is anything but top class. He has never been in the top 3 props in the world at any stage of his career. Even at Manly both Jason King and Brent Kite are far better props.

In the past two seasons, Josh Perry hasn't averaged more than 80m a game and hasn't made more than a 100m a game since 2005.

The fact that Perry has represented Australia and NSW is a travesty and is indicative of selectors policy of picking players from winning teams regardless of ability.

In his two games for NSW he has only made 113m in total, including the first game of this year where he only made 38 metres in 7 runs as a starting prop, before Bellamy benched him and then dropped him for Game 2.

Perry will do well and will no doubt be a useful asset but don't kid yourself that you are getting a world-beater.

I think what we've (hopefully) got is a big, tough defender in the middle of the park who's sheer size will help dominate the ruck and trundle the ball up for solid yards in attack.
Not that its hard, but I seem to remember him looking pretty good for the Aussies. He's a good age as well.

Its interesting that you also mentioned Brent Kite, as we were rumoured to be chasing him on more than one occasion.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Interesting post.
Could you please post your views (maybe on the Wigan board) on Lima, Hoffman and Finch, as you obviously have seen far more of them than we have.

In agreement with the above poster re: Josh Perry at the end of last season, with Manly still in with a shout of the playoffs he looked anything but world-class. During a number of games both before & after his knee injury he certainly wasn't looking for the ball, & was going through set after set without taking the ball in or anything other than third man in tackles. He does however like to 'niggle'! I am hoping that this is not representative of what he will do when he gets here.

Believe me, ive seen him play enough over the last 3yrs, he will be a awesome signing for us. The aussie natinal side don't just pick anyone, he was playing state of origin and for oz this year.

He will be a very very good player for us.

Um, your first post on here and it's all about how our new signing is, basically, rubbish. I think I'll take what you say with a pinch of salt.

Which team do you support btw?

That would be the logical conclusion, however, its not always true. NSW in particular has made an artform of selecting players who aren't good enough, its part of the reason they are staring down the barrel of 6 consecutive defeats. There is a significant difference in the being selected for a team and being good enough for a team, Perry may have been selected but his performances show he wasn't good enough.

I know its come across as a big whinge against Perry but that wasn't my original intent.

Yeah, I suppose its not a fantastic first impression but one has to start somewhere. I'm not trying to bag Perry, he will be a good addition and provide some great support for Graham.

I never said Perry is rubbish nor will I, Perry is a good NRL prop and he will be a good player next year. I was just pointing out that he isn't a superstar and is certainly never been one of the top 3 props in the world.

I stated my reasons and gave the statistics to back them up (you can find them here). I was just trying to give a frank assessment since obviously playing in Australia he is a bit of an unknown to many in the same way many current Superleague players are unknown to me as I only manage a few games a year.

I support the Saints, however, having lived in Melbourne for the past 5 years it gets a bit hard to follow a team by just reading BBC reports.
