After the wire game when you only had 10,000 I thought the club needed to drop the prices & get some kids in free otherwise attendances would dip further, didn't think they would go as low as 6,000!

For many fans living in an economically deprived area it's just too expensive. The nation still hasn't got itself out of the sub-prime slump and the way the Tories are going at their slash-and-burn policies it could be a long time before we see any kind of economic daylight. During the past three years we've seen soaring prices on food, energy and other basic raw materials. Couple this with the complete unwillingness of employers to issue pay rises above, at - or even close to - the basic line of inflation and you're left with a year-on-year nett wage reduction the first consequence of which will be a cut-back of non-essential items in low income households. And heading the list of non-essential "high cost" expenses is SL.

You forgot to add all this is exacerbated by having a poor team. People are reluctant to shell out if you are going to see your team lose. Other clubs in equally poor areas are managing to keep attendances up. I know Cameron and clegg are convenient scapegoats for all the country's woes but look closer to home on this one

We at Wire have been poor for many years but we still turned up.
The same for fans at every other club, Cas, Wakey, etc.

Just because your team is having bad patch (and lets face it Saints have had 10 fantastic years) the Saints fans should still turn up and support their team unless the fans are just glory hunters who want to see Trophy's and desert their club when things are lean.

I and many many like me followed the Wire for approx 30 years without seeing a Trophy, but went because not only do I love my club I also love the greatest game on the planet.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Having a poor team is only a small part of the picture. Saints fans don,t want be at Widnes, and hence will pick there matches, I reckon the lowest attendance will bottom out at 5000 with one full house against Wigan.

I should imagine a lot of fans are already looking at being season ticket holders next season in the new stadium because who wants to pay up to £26 a ticket to watch a game on a regular basis in a neutral venue.
I travel down from Cumbria on match days, last year it cost me £38, this year it's costing me £54. Also found out the saints ticket office shuts at 3-30 pm.

I'm pretty sure you average 4-5k at Wilderspool.

Probably a tad more than that and closer to 6.000.
But yes you are right 7 years ago in our old stadium our attendances were some 5 or 6 thousand lower than they are now.

We were poop and we all still went, yet Saints have had Grand Final after Grand Final after Grand Final and beucase of a downturn in form ony 6,000 turn up against a team who are currently at the top end of the table.

A few season ago Wigan were poop but their fans turned in thousands to support their team though the bad times.
Saints have had an average (but not bad) start to the season and by their absence your fans have shown what they are really all about

6,000 at a neutral ground is decent in my opinion. Our crowds at KR against Quins were around the 7k mark, so it's not a massive difference.

It was boosted by a massive travelling support of approximately 6.
