Re: Mose Masoe tonight : Sat Mar 08, 2014 11:12 am
Nathan Brown Saints coach pretty much stating that Masoe isn't fit.

His post match comments were as follows "He needs to play, train, play, train and play and it will take him six to eight weeks to get his game to where it was back home"

What this means is that we will in effect have to carry him, while he gets fit.

Now this wont matter when we are winning, but I guarantee that when we lose a game, and we will do in the next few weeks, there will be lots of people coming on these boards slagging the team off left right and centre.

I would prefer to be critical now in a victory, rather than slag the team off in defeat, when its basically a knee jerk reaction to being disappointed at losing a game.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Re: Mose Masoe tonight : Sat Mar 08, 2014 11:24 am
I think fans on here should be giving Mose a bit more slack, in the back of our minds perhaps we where expecting him to tear into the opposition offensively and defensively.
With Walmsley, Amor and LMS performing so well we can afford to let Mose develop match fitnes. I would expect Mose will improve individually in every game he plays, the most important thing is that he needs to gel into the side.......he,s not going to do that in the 25 mins so far.

Hope he doesn't read this site, or it'll puncture with a ten foot pin any feelgood bubble he might have.

I'm all for constructive criticism, but some of the vitriol directed at our own bloody players on here is ridiculous. I appreciate most of the drivel comes from one attention-seeking twunt, but I really don't get the bitterness.

I think its all fair comment pretty honest discussion. I would suspect he knows it wasnt his best 12 mins on a rl pitch and we can only comment on what we see

The only player who attracts vitriol is Paul Wellens and I fail to see why. Even if you accept (as most do) that he's way past his best he still gives 100% every time he pulls on a shirt and if others played with half the heart he shows, as I said before, we'd be a better side.

Other players such as Lance promote frustration more than anything because there's a recognition that it's actually not his fault. He was never ever a 6 in the memory of man so the ire is directed at those who signed him as such, not the player himself.

As far as Masoe is concerned there was a fair degree of hype around his arrival and likely impact - after watching him last night anyone would be disappointed with that showing. He will be a weakness in the side that we don't need until he sheds around 2 stone. I can understand people's frustration but I don't think it's a case of him being written off. We have form with 'big signings' remember - Josh Perry?

It's not Wellens the man, or even Wellens the player which is causing frustration, it's the selection of him.
He's taking up a bench spot, only to be brought on after 65 minutes (which is strange in itself) and every week that's been a point when the game is already won.
It's a ridiculous waste of a bench spot - It's like Royce's "back on the bench" tactic, without the advantage of having a back on the bench.

All that is before the fact he's keeping blatantly more qualified players out of the match day 17

But none of that is wellens fault, yet he bares the brunt of it (unfairly)

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Mose Masoe tonight : Sat Mar 08, 2014 1:02 pm
That's the point, if someone offered me a stack of cash to play what ever position at Saints, I'd take it. Well maybe not nowa days.

As for Mose.

We can probably carry him through the next 2 games, drop him for Leeds and then include him again.

There is no need for him to be steam rollering by the 6th round. If he is up to speed at half way through then it will be for the better.

Good post...........people need to support the shirt who ever is wearing it at the time.

But at 65 minutes what exactly do they need to be 'qualified' for? You are contradicting your own argument.

I'm not defending his selection by the way but, if the game is 'already won' then surely a solid player to merely maintain the status quo, not make mistakes, lead the side and play in the backs or the forwards is an ideal substitute?

If you were 2 - 0 up in a football Cup final with 70 minutes gone would you bring on a steady eddie defender or a flashy forward? I can fully understand why he's on the bench and the abuse he gets is simply because he does what he does well, no fuss, just gets on with it and is the safest pair of hands we have. I'd pick him as a 65 min sub ahead of Lance, Wheeler or any of the others.
