McDonnell has his fair share of injuries according to the Hull fans. What McDonnell does is offer a similar style of play to Wellens, which seems to suit us better. But that doesnt mean Lomax is going anywhere, let alone Wigan - Wigan arent notorious for transfer fees, were on course to break even this year (helped by sky) for the first time in ages, and Wigan cant offer lomax any more salary cap than saints can - so "££££££s" would make no sense...

If it works out 1. McDonnell 6. Lomax 7. Walsh 9. Roby 14. Hohaia could be great. If not, were just in the same position we were in so we agree win/win.

Lets not forget it's only till the end of the year.

I see it as a cover option. Lomax is out for the year, so as others have said the only option if Wellens was injured would be to move a player from Wing where they are best suited to FB.

Therefore moving a lesser winger in.

If you want a settled side, better to have someone on standby.

If McDonnell shows worth, then he may be offered an extention, but I doubt he has been offered anything on the side of this, given he is taking Hull FC to court over pulling a promised contract away, (we would be super daft to do the same).

I thought the dispute with Hull was the fact they wanted to tear up a contract already signed and sealed, as opposed to just not seeing through a "promise." I may be wrong but that's what I thought the general gist was anyway.

It's a sensible option. If he impresses at Saints (by Brown's tone he isn't interested in him as a long term option) then someone like Wakefield, Leigh or whoever can pick him up so he doesn't have to bugger off back home with his tail between his legs. In the meantime we get decent cover at fullback which means we don't have to move the backs around should we get any more injuries. IMO the recruitment of this lad and Dawson were clever signings.
