What part of that don't you understand? Leuluai as a player is a decent signing. But it's not a good signing for the club at this point. He is the same age as Roby, so he's not a successor to him. He's not an impact player, so will not benefit the team if he's rotated with Roby. There might be a small benefit but not one worth the outlay.

Roby is a player who plays 80 minutes more often than not. He's over the hill now in terms of his potential, so the ideal signing in terms of a hooker is a youngster. Milner from Cas, a young up and comer from the NRL, fine I'd have no problems with it. But to sign a player who is suffering massively with injuries after a long career just seems daft. I know why the club is doing it, he's a classic KC signing. Utility, utility, utility. He can play 6 and 7 reasonably and 9 well. Heavenly for KC.

There are so, so many other areas of the side that need improving. Fullback is an obvious one, both wings, one centre (To go with Percival), an answer for Walsh at 7, a prop to improve on Tasi and Richards, a backrower to improve the side. So, so much to do in terms of building a side that can compete for trophies. And we're spending what will presumably be a very limited budget on a 31 year old Wigan badge-kisser who will take Lance's role as backup to several men and chief scapegoat? It doesn't strike me as particularly good business.

But rotating Roby does benefit the team? Hodgson isnt an impact hooker, but England benefited with him and Roby rotating. Allowing Roby to go 100% for 50 minutes is better than constantly having him throttled at 70%. Coupled with the fact hes supposed to be (according to the Wigan fans at least) a leader and a very capable player, it is addressing an issue in the squad. Both can probably go another 2 years, so we don't need to be heir planning just yet.

The reality is that we currently have Burns if Roby picks up an injury. TL is much better than Burns. So it is a good signing.

One centre can be brought since Turner should go, Walsh leaving creates space for another 7 to come in, and SMD creates space for another winger (personally I'd move T Mak to fullback). LMS, Wilkin and Vea given their marching orders creates plenty of cap space for a prop and a backrower. Why TL replacing Burns would impact any of these things is beyond me.

I've got a sneaky suspicion that TL is going to be signed as a 6/7 to replace Walsh, not to ease the pressure on Roby.

I'd be the first to admit that would be a mistake!

Yes, me too. TL as replacement for Burns = great. TL as replacement for Walsh = potentially disastrous.

Just been on sky that you guys have signed Thomas Leuluai for next season. Maybe that's your new hooker.

You must be mad signing an over 30yr old , Wigan don't need him we've got Waterworth and Ganson for the no 9 Gregson Williams and Sharrock for the halves stick with your youngsters, of course they'll make mistakes but they'll learn,

I said it would a little. But is that worth the large salary he would command? It's like using half your monthly salary to fix your back fence when your heating is broken and your roof is leaking and there is water pouring all over your baby's bed.

I can see Turner getting a new deal. LMS and Wilkin already have apparently. I can also see SMD getting another year. Throw Gilmore from Widnes in with TL and I reckon that's McManus's shopping done for the year. Call me cynical but that's where I think we are as a club.
