Amazing how easily pleased you sheep are. Don't get me wrong, this looks a decent signing, he's turned into a quality prop at Wakefield.
But some of the hysteria ("I can't believe we've pulled this off") shows how low our expectations had fallen. We didn't believe the club would ever wake from their slumber, but there are encouraging signs that maybe, just maybe, they are starting to acknowledge their failings and do something about it. That doesn't excuse the malaise that has been allowed to set in and destroy our squad over the last 6-7 years but it shows a willingness to move forward from now on.
I was also going to say the board would be wise not to assume this will placate the fans, as it's not enough, but it seems from the giddy outpouring on here that it might be. Decent signing but without a halfback to play with Walsh we're not going to be competing for trophies. If they follow this up with announcements of new deals for dead wood in Wello and Laffranchi and then don't sign a stand off, what will the point have been?
This is the time Saints need to step it up. Release Wello and Laffranchi and sign a stand off. Then we'll be cooking on gas.

We're not necessarily rebuilding to be trophy winners in one season, this is just a step in the right direction. There's only so many holes you can fill in once recruitment period and they've done a hell of a lot of filling so far.
