You can say what you want about lack of commitment and leadership and I wouldn’t argue, after all you’ve seen more Saints games this season than I have, but when all’s said and done and taking into account swings and roundabouts, 50-50s and all that, and believe me I do hate to blame referees for losing games, but the LMS incident probably cost Saints the game IMO, and it was called wrong. You could say they didn’t deserve it, and some will, but for me that doesn’t change what should have been. When something so wrong cost the game, and remember there’s more than one official that should have seen the play correctly. If it was just the two points that would have been bad enough, but it could mean the loss of the LLS.
It wasn't called wrong. Taai did not charge down the kick, he made no attempt to touch the ball -the ball hit him, he can't be classed as charging down a ball just for running towards the attacking line -he was attempting to reach the line to tackle. If a player is classed as charging down a ball for moving forward from the defensive line teams could just kick the ball at opposition players whilst one of their own is stood in the defensive line and pick it up!
How many times do we see a half back kick the ball on the last and hit another player. Brough has kicked the ball and hit two players in the face this season- were they chargedowns? - no rightly those in front of him were still off side as they should be!
