McDonnell didn't do us wrong in his short time and also fits that description ...

I don't think we should sign him (and I don't think we should sign a back at all) and never said I think we should sign him, I said given the club seem to be saying they're looking for a back would he be an option a) the club would consider and b) if the club did go for it would others think it's a decent move ...

If we're signing a back, he'd have to be a world class centre/wing to get into this side above current players

I'd imagine our 1-13 is pretty settled, but then I have no idea why we'd be going for a back in the first place so I'm not the one to ask...

That's what I thought. I wouldn't have said that's where we are particularly lacking. The only explanation would be Turner playing at 13 permanently but with Lomax, Burns, Walsh and Roby I think it'd be a case of too many cooks. So I'm not sure why we made the enquiries we did really.

A top class winger with real pace would fit the bill as Swift looks like he is another young prospect who will fade away.

I think your way off the mark here. Swift has had problems defensively but if he can sort that out then he's one hell of a winger. With ball in hand he is excellent.

Once he reads the defensive plays better he will be a great winger, just needs a settled centre alongside him. I reckon he will be our top try scorer next season.
