I can understand the logic as we are a little thin outside. And despite his early successes in the position I don't think it will be long before Swift moves inside. Fullback preferably. I also think he has the makings of a good stand-off.
But if you're going to throw money at arguably the least important position in RL I'd say you're better off piling the chips together and going "all in".
Where is Swift going to move though? He's not going to have the chance to displace Burns at 6 whilst Hohaia is in the wings as well, and equally he's not going to displace Lomax at fullback with Wellens around (though I'd like to see him take that role, especially if Turner is earmarked for 13).
Wellens, Dawson and Percival are already in reserve to cover the back 5, and even Hohaia if we lose more than 3 ...
I can only hope the plan for the available space is to be targeting player for next year as their is some quality off contract, and tying down what we have
