I keep hearing this but it's just not the case, yes Royce played a part in which players where brought in for
this season, but ateotd he isn't solely responsible for the club's recruitment! It just doesn't work that way, the decision on who to buy is made by people higher up than the coach in RL, he simply states which positions we may need to add bodies in and suggests players that he thinks may be suitable, scouting, agreement on players, negotiations and purchases are handle by several people within the club including the MD & Chairman. It is very convenient to lay the blame solely at the door of the Coach.
He wouldn't have been involved in signing LMS, Perry, Shenton and I doubt whether he would have been greatly involved in Hohaia's recruitment either given the timing of his signing (factoring in scouting and negotiation periods), short of offering his opinion of the player from an NRL perspective.
So I'd argue that the only signings he'd have had any real influence over would be Flanaghan & Laffranchi neither of which have yet to be proven as bad signings.
