when all teams are playing at a high intensity the league is harder to win than the grand final. Just Wigan and Warrington rotated all season and not going all out for the league leaders unlike previous seasons, ironically i think leeds tried a lot harder in the league this season than in the previous 2.

winning in the playoffs is much harder when you don't rotate your players. Wigan and warrington took the easy option this year.

In 2011 and 2012 leeds didn't rotate and played more games than anyone with CC finals and the WCC. The title wins in 2011 and 2012 were therfore superior because they didn't bottle it and rotate players.

Our titles better!

Much better, our titles were more like a triple triple in 2006.

Challenge Cup
League Leaders Shield
Superleague Champions

Lance Todd Trophy Winner
Harry Sunderland Trophy Winner
Man of Steel Winner

BBC Sports Team of the Year
BBC Sports Coach of the Year
World Club Champions (Afterwards)

Obviously this year the standard of rugby league is so much better and Wigan,s double is far superior to the above.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

Re: One thing we MUST learn from Wigan : Sat Oct 12, 2013 5:57 pm
Does anybody seriously believe Huddersfield would have finished top in a first past the post system? Course they wouldn't.

Last season, Wane treated it as such. He had the team go flat out in every game and it backfired when it mattered. I think a few clubs have (finally) woken up and learnt what Leeds have known for a few years - finishing top means jack if you don't lift the big one.

No wonder all my pie eating mates don't buy season tickets as it's been made pretty clear on this thread that your season only starts for real in September. I don't blame you lot for not buying season tickets then.

Obviously with wigans way of thinking it's better to just pay on challenge cup days and play off times, it will be cheaper and more enjoyable.

You're stretching it abit there with MoM awards and what not. Comes across as desperate. A very unattractive quality, rather like the fare on offer at Langtree Park these days. :DAISY:

stand by what? That leeds title win last year was hollow, but wigans this year isn't, even though the circumstances are similiar?

The same reasons which you used to rubbish leeds title last year could be used to rubbish wigan's title this year.

The argument is all bollox. It's playground logic. A title, is a title, is a title. You might as well argue wigan's title in 1998 was hollow because bradford were sh*t, saints were sh*t, and leeds, the only decent challenger hadn't won a title in nearly 30 years so were inexperienced, so wigan won by default.......hollow title!!

Wigan fans are bad losers, but even worse winners.

It is harder to be the best over 27 rounds (when all teams are trying) than to win the Grand Final although a tad bit of luck does come into the play offs.

I don,t think it will have any value to third parties until some other team emulates it. Saints won the League Leaders Shield 3 or 4 years on the trot and it became known as the hub cap. Recently Warrington and Huddersfield have won it and now its increased in market value.

Our triple triple is factual and is just an indicator that the 2006 team dominated every avenue of rugby league that season and is a proud moment in our history.

To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”

Yeah, I'll just turn up to watch the finals and O'Loughlin to lift the trophies. Why waste time and money going to the insignificant matches that don't count?

It's pretty clear you don't understand how a club generates money to survive.

There are only three pots available each year. Hudds won one of them, which is tremendous for a club that has won jack for decades. If clubs concentrate on getting to the gf at the expense of winning the hubcap, that is surely good for another club to lift some silverware? Maybe saints realistically should target the hubcap next season at the expense of the gf? How long is it since we had the silver polish out?
