If we are going to loan out players, surely we should do it on the understanding that they are going to get game time? If he is goinig to be a water carrier, he might as well be a water carrier at Saints as elsewhere. But if he isn't good enough to play in the Celtic side, he is hardly likely to be good enough at Saints.

Firstly, Celtic are two games into their season. I'm sure he will get his chance.

Secondly, no club would agree to a loan deal if it meant another club dictating their team selection.

And thirdly, as you imply, if Tyrer doesn't get picked at Celtic it will only confirm what I think we already suspect - he isn't good enough. If this is the case, then the loan will have, in a sense, served its purpose - it will have told us whether we have a super league standard player or not.

Thats what happened when joel tomkins, smith, tyrer and dean came to widnes

and fourthly, at least we aren't paying for him to be a water carrier.

And thats the most important thing. I didnt think he really stood out in NL1 last year so I cant see how he will in SL this year unless he has had the greatest pre season ever.

IMO unless we have a massive injury crisis and are forced to recall him I cant see him playing for Saints again

I suspect that there are rules around teams in the same competition dictating the terms of loan deals - meaning that we cant say XYZ have to play in certain games, or XYZ cant play against us etc...

If there wasnt rules we could just say Tyrer, Smith and Moore cant play against Leeds, Bradford Warrington or Saints - but have to play against everyone else; there would be massive implications on the overall integrity of the competition.

Agree with everyone else's assessment - if Tyrer cant get into the Celtic squad it will just prove that he isnt Saints quality. Josh Hannay and Mark Dalle Court look decent enough players at centre, but neither would be in the Saints team, so if Tyrer cant get ahead of them he isnt good enough for us.
