I think Hohaia has to get a big wrap for his kicking game, but I may have gone for Lomax MoM - he got through a lot of grubby work at the back on a grim night.
This reminds me of that derby game all those years ago when a Wigan team full of kids beat us ( Luke Robinson scored the winner). How different it is froma few years back when the likes of Ashurst, Magennis and Foster we're getting bullied by their Wigan counterparts - these youngsters we've got now are burly and determined and went toe to toe with some of the most serious contenders in the game tonight.
Agreed, the current crop look very promising indeed, savelio had a very good debut, carried it up very well after a mistake on his first involvement (all saints greats do that!) we looked more composed and structured with walker on, I thought he had a very good game, and mention needs to go to Richards for going toe to toe with peacock is impressive for anyone, let alone an 18 year old!
But, the way Wellens marked hardaker out of the game, and moved the ball, should keep any knockers quiet - his hit on him in the first half was fabulous! Do you think he was annoyed sky called him "the new wellens" a few weeks ago?
