I've just been having a read over on redvee to see how they have reacted to Sat night. This is post of the year from DD and sums up the situation perfectly. It may seem strange calling a team so much when we're top of the pile, but we've fallen way short when faced with stiff challenges all too often.

For me its now inherent in the culture of the club. Our current (genuine) stars tend to be the more passive characters and unfortunately, our more modest shirt fillers don't have the grit in their personality to make up for it.

The thing I don't agree with is the Roby comments.

I think Roby is struggling because he is playing in a beaten pack who go missing defensively.

I agree. I have defended Roby in detail further on in that thread that you have provided the link to.

He is getting flak because he isn't hitting the standards he has set for himself. But the reason for that is that he is too busy covering up for everyone else and doing too much donkey work.

51 tackles is ridiculous. What are the other forwards doing to allow him to make so many tackles?

I think it says a lot about our 'senior' players when the only other forward working hard in defence is a 19 year old lad, Luke Thompson with 43 tackles. That's a massive stint for a young bloke against the Dragons pack.

I like him a lot and one of only a few of our forwards who can hold their heads up at the minute.

Whilst I agree with you, it is also a ploy by opposition coaches to tire him out. If someone deliberately runs at Roby, he's going to have to make the tackle.

The only thing we can do about that is shifting him to defend a bit wider but I dread to think how many people would just trundle through us in that case!

The real point here is that he should be spelled, but we instead CHOOSE to completely negate his effectiveness by flogging him. It is absurd.
