We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Cas Stats : Mon Jun 23, 2014 6:14 pm
http://superleague.co.uk/report/10014

Key figures for me.

Willie Manu
127 meters
Average gain 10.58 meters
3 tackle busts and 1 clean break
AND 0 errors.

The tackling was a lot more evenly spread this week amonst the team.

LMS had arguably the best Prop stats.

Dawson high on the meters again and more tackle busts.

Wellens had an attacking wow 9 tackle busts and 3 clean breaks

Before writing this I should point out that I'm a huge fan of Luke Thompson and I also think Mose has been under par...

Mose got a bit more (not much) stick this week for his work ethic and not making yards whilst Thompson gt big raps again for working hard, however:

Mose:

14 tackles, 0 misses
12 carries, 85, average gain of 7.08 metres
1 error, 2 tackle busts, 2 offoads, 0 penalties

Thompson:

16 tackles, 2 misses
7 carries, 43 metres, average gain of 6.14
0 errors, 1 tackles bust, 0 offloads 1 penalty

Only Richards(13) and Flanagan(18) made more carries from the forwards (excluding Roby). Mose was 4th in total metres made for the forwards.

Aye, but he completely fluffed one of his clean breaks! (At the risk of sounding like Saddened...!) I do hope that tendency of his to want to score himself is tempered on Friday.

If anything, Mose gets bigger raps than he deserves. He can't do anything wrong.

Do you not think Mose should be making more meters than all our forwards being mobile, 6ft 5in and 20st ? Don't forget Thompson is 20 years old and only played one season while Mose is 25yr old, NRL experience and played for Samoa in the World Cup.

Where was Mose last week when our pack was getting dominated ? I know Thompson stood up when it got tough. Same with LMS, he's the same as Mose, plays well when we out a score on teams but when it gets tough both go missing. That's the problem we've had this year with the pack.

I agree with everything you're saying, just highlighting the performances of this particular game in a stand alone analysis.

Although it's good to see Mose and LMS roll out some decent stats, I don't class that as being great in a game like that. Cas wasn't at the races and seem to have the eye on the semi as they been rubbish since knocking the pies out.

We need those two (and others) to roll those sort of stats out or even better against the likes of Wigan, Warrington, Leeds if we have any chance to win anything. Sadly IMO those two can't and won't.

Personally I would have liked to see one of LMS and Mose topping 100m in a game.

But maybe expectations have been set too high by Jammer

Let's be honest here, a guy whose that big and is pretty mobile for that size should be making more meters than he is. That justifies what I've been saying about him, he doesn't run his weight.

Lms will never make 100m, he's just to small. He'd have to do one on his long range runs to get 100m.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

He's bigger than Farrell who regularly makes 100m+. Is it not down to the style of rugby?

Re: Cas Stats : Mon Jun 23, 2014 9:16 pm
Thompson only did a short stint this weekend. Probably due to all the effort he put in against Catalan defensively.

Oh and Pete you are doing him a dis service saying he is 20 years old. Luke is still a teenager and only turned 19 a month or two ago.

Been impressed with Richards in the last two games he has played.

The kid is only 18 yet in the last two games he has played in at SL level he has knocked out 20 carries for 114 metres against Salford and 99 metres from 13 carries against Castleford.

Those a decent forward metres for a mature prop, never mind a kid. Bodes well for his future if he can maintain that level and even build on it.
