same again! : Fri Jul 25, 2014 9:26 pm
i know luke walsh as got a bad injury which is a crying shame...but putting that aside..once again they did the same as they did against the bulls the other week ..... take a commanding lead of 32 nill then low and behold they let widnes score 22 points in the second half!!!..hasn't brown learned from that last fiasco?...there's no way the pies or leeds would allow that to happen...brown should be INSISTING that they put the opposition to the sword after taking a lead like that and try and keep em to nill...but no same old...same old......alright i know we won (that's fair enough)..but c,mon "that's not good enough"....disgrutled...

We can't defend, I've said it since round three. Any team that attacks and puts us under pressure will score.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Re: same again! : Fri Jul 25, 2014 9:54 pm
It all started when they eased up and stopped moving up in defence which left us exposed out wide with individual errors, Jones and Dawson missing one on one tackles.
The one positive is that they got back on the bike and pole axed Widnes in there own half.
We also missed a lot of work from Flanagan when he went off, I think we can also say Mose is now up to speed.

A completely schizophrenic performance. Again for going on an hour I thought they were utterly superb. Widnes clearly had their tails up from beating Warrington and were giving it a go. Although losing Brown to injury probably cost them any realistic chance of a win, they were still up for it. We handled that well and I thought the entire pack was sensational.

Walmsley was great, Amor putting another notch on his recovery with a solid performance, Robes quiet but hard working. Flanagan and Sia were both very solid and Manu was brilliant throughout. Give him the damn contract he wants. LMS? For me tonight he was fantastic. Mose as well was superb, the epitome of an impact prop. His second try was great to see and what I really like was how he went looking for Widnes' naughty boys when it started to get heated. Always good to see a prop who'd rather run at a confrontation than shy away from it like our's usually do.

Downsides? The defending and overall attitude in the second half was appalling again. Percival needs to be dropped until he sorts his D out, he's an open door blowing in the wind. He had a bad night tonight, getting smashed by Paddy Flynn a few times.

And Wello? It's games like tonight that even the most ardent of pro-Wello fans will surely agree with me that it's just game over for him. His chiming into the line tonight was so hard to watch, truly cringeworthy. He seemed determined to gift Widnes a try with his trot-out-wide-and-kick-as-I'm-falling-over routine. Seeing him get walked past by Flynn was eye opening. It seemed Flynn went 60m in the time Wello took to move off the spot.

We played some really nice rugby tonight and scored some very good try's but the minute they attack, they score and that's a massive worry for me like I've said all year.

Wello had a off night tonight but to be fair he's been really good since he moved to fullback.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: same again! : Fri Jul 25, 2014 10:24 pm
I'd give a little latitude for having a man out. I'd also understand a drop in the scoring rate, but the defense should be able to hold up better.

It's the opposition that worries me more. We capitulate against Hull KR, Wakefield, Bradford and Widnes. Can you imagine if we had a period like that against Wigan, Warrington or Leeds in a play off game? It'd be a massacre.

Re: same again! : Sat Jul 26, 2014 9:52 am
I do hope in coming weeks if we are not as fluent in attack, some of our more extreme posters can take into account that the team is playing without 4 play makers.

We all like attacking Rugby but if we play it up the jumper style and less expansive we should not come on here and berate the team for not playing like the harlem globetrotters.

Wins are all that matter now regardless of scorelines.

It's no excuse but when you stuffing a team so convincingly it must be hard to keep going full on? (unless it's Wigan 75-0)
