Wigan or Warrington? : Fri Oct 03, 2014 2:14 pm
Simple question, who do we want in the GF, Wigan or Warrington?

Very difficult one for me. I think that if both teams play at 100% capability then Warrington are the better team and tore us apart with Higham and Monaghan. However, I think Wigan play at a higher level more consistently than Warrington and are more likely to perform in the final.

Having said all that I think Tony Smith is a far superior coach and is more likely to put together a gameplan that can completely undo us, as he did a few weeks ago, so I'd have to go with Wigan. If Warrington get through then I hope Michael Monaghan punches McIlorum square on the nose and picks up a ban.

It's already Wigan, if you've had an email from Sky about getting tickets!!

I'd prefer to play Warrington.

When they click I think Warrington are probably the best side in the league. But there is quite a big difference between their best and their worst. I feel that if you can knock them out of their stride early in a match they sometimes start to panic and overplay. I think getting stuck into Warrington's pack early doors and trying to work them into that frame of mind is our best (albeit slim) chance of winning the title.

Wigan don't quite have the level of talent as Warrington (IMO), but they are very well-drilled. When things don't go their way they stick to the game plan and don't tend to get flustered. They're also very tough in the middle, which will undermine the effectiveness of the forward-oriented game we've been having to play over the last few weeks.

Either way we're up against it, but I'll be more optimistic if Wire win tonight.

At the start of typing my post I was picking Warrington, then by the end I chose Wigan. I don't think there's much in it and like you say, it'll be incredibly tough either way.

Wire for me. Whilst on their day they're just as deadly, I think there's more chance of us finding a chink in their armour or them having a blip.
Wigan just are what they are, tough, eager, focussed. There's a lot less margin for error with them.

Also, as a Saints fan, you always cheer whoever's playing Wigan. So I want Wigan to lose tonight and we'll play the consequence.

Warrington. Absolutely no hesitation. Wigan are the better side and losing to them will feel 10 times worse than losing to Warrington.

After a titanic battle tonight involving many damaged and suspended players, Wire to just nick it.

Re: Wigan or Warrington? : Fri Oct 03, 2014 3:11 pm
Probably Wire just on the basis that I don't want Wigan to have 2 consecutive GF wins plus we can gloat against our Wigan fans that there is no silverware this season for them.
If both Warrington and Wigan had there best pivotal players missing in scrum half, full back and loose forward I reckon we would beat either of them.

All we can wish for is a very hard physical game thats very difficult to recover from for next week, we can up our game for Wigan as per our previous meeting and Wire take more chances so they could bring errors into the game.
League Leaguers Shield and a Grand Final is not bad, a GF win is the icing on the cake.
