I think we can forgive Percival the odd off night. His defence has been damn near faultless since he established himself in the first team.
People really do need to get over this obsession with missed tackles. We're no longer in the days when missing more than ten tackles over eighty minutes was an egregious sin. The fact that Hull KR accumulated a jaw-dropping
SEVENTY EIGHT recently is a good indicator of how the game has changed over the last few years.
Given some of the very tight defensive patterns in SL (and Saints' is among the tightest) it shouldn't come as any surprise when centres and wingers make not just one - but several mistakes. Moreover, with players now regularly topping 6'3 and 16st+ it should be equally unsurprising when smaller halves are beaten one-on-one - repeatedly.
Quite frankly I find it rather pathetic that in a season when Saints' DEFENCE (as opposed to our attack) has been instrumental in us currently sitting position #1 people have chosen to obsess over achieving a degree of defence which the game appears to have moved on from and individual statistics which are worth precisely ZERO trophies, points etc.
