He has good skill in attack, but without the athleticism behind it to be dangerous at Super League level - his footwork is good, as is his passing and vision, but he'll not quite be fast or strong enough to make a break on the back of that. His support play is really good, probably one of his strongest features. He's played some stand off too so expect him to be vocal in attack too.
Defensively he's very mixed. His organisation of the defensive line from fullback was very strong, and his positioning was generally good. From what I remember he was pretty solid with kicks too. However, he's a very poor one-on-one tackler. There was an argument that when he was playing for Saints, he had an injury which may have had an impact on this, but I've not seen enough of him elsewhere to comment on that. In 2015, he missed 19 of 63 tackle attempts (30%). For comparison, Cockayne missed 18% this year.
He'll look good at Championship level and would probably look okay enough for a bottom 4 Super League team too. He's solid in most aspects of the game and your centres and wingers should get a few tries out of him too. His tackling is very weak but this may have improved since 2015 with another year of coaching, but if not, it's still worth it IMO for what he should offer at Championship/middle 8s level.
