No heart : Fri Apr 21, 2017 9:02 pm
Tired bodies but this is a team full of mouth and no heart. Led by the weakest captain we have ever had. No bottle, newt.

Wilkins years as a captain have been more of a disgrace than Cunningham reign. When we won the grand final when Wellens was a bit part player Wilkin got injured for the back end and missed the grand final. We won. The following year he took over captaincy and his been awful absolutely awful.

Patrick Ah Van tonight at 50 years of age absolutely destroyed up. Everytime I watch him on sky his shocking against saints he turns into the Hull or should I say we make him look like the Hulk.

I get the 3 games in 7 days but that was a poop#ouse performance

Wouldn't say no heart, I'd say no brains. We just lack any idea in attack and if don't score points, you don't win games. The effort was there as we defended pretty well.

The team has been built for negative rugby by KC. You only need to look at the calibre of player we have. Other than percy and Theo we have no attack.

The new coach needs to bring in about 5 or 6 players who can play with ball in hands.

What a huge steaming pile of turd. On paper, this team shouldn't be bad. On the field, it's the worst Saints side I've watched in more than 30 years. There is not a brain cell on that field.

Widnes right winger running on one leg opposite our two fastest and most evasive runners? Fantastic, let's consistently put it to our right!

Got the ball on the 4th tackle in the Widnes 10 metre area and it's short-handed out wide? Great. Turn it back inside to some donkey forward to get tackled pointlessly.

Swift picked up the ball on the run from a Widnes kick through with plenty of room to go to ground? Marvellous, put the brakes on, stop dead in your tracks, and let yourself be tackled over the line to allow the winning try.

Got Widnes pinned in their territory? Super. Give away a stupid, stupid @*#$ING STUPID penalty agin. And again. And again. And again.

Got an attacking move? Wonderful. Don't do it until it's the very last minute and we're losing, and then do it badly.

We sacked the coach. Maybe we should sack the team too.

Jesus wept, but that was bad. I understand why Bailey hasn't played for 2 years. I understand why Fleming isn't given many runs. The admiration of some of my fellow fans for pointless one-dimensional meat shields like Richards, Thompson and Knowles continues to escape me.

Matty Smith was supposed to be our brain. He's supposed to be our organiser. There was absolutely no organisation out there. None. I can't have been the only fan screaming in despair as he passed it right once again, or gave it to another dead-ball forward once again, over and over and over as we headed for an inevitable Widnes winning score, and then afterwards.

What a pile of cr@p. Seriously. Enough to make me revise my view of Cunningham's failings. Maybe he was just getting the best out of a sh!te squad.

We are currently extremely likely to finish in the bottom four. On that evidence tonight, we deserve to be relegated.

Re: No heart : Sat Apr 22, 2017 7:36 am
On that showing looks as though we could be battling for that 8th place spot if this dumb play continues. When you think back we had great pivots on 1, 6, 7 , 9 and 13 in this present team we can't make one good pivot from our current 1, 6,7,9 and 13 on show last night.
Smith and Lee far too slow, the opposition read too easily any of our simplistic plays, we desperately need a proven full back next year and a creative loose forward, otherwise we will stay out of the top 4 for years to come.

For me Wilkin's heart is in Manchester Exchange and Manchester in-crowd, a player I have always so rated but the last 18 months has shown he is as bad as the Aussies who come over on a holiday.

I thought he had his best game as a backrow in long time last night but still not good enough.

On the subject of Bailey, he made a number of errors, however he was also our best attacking threat.

Two of the errors attributed to him were somewhat harsh, there was the knock on that wasnt (same also for zeb ) and the wickedly bouncing ball that ricocheted into his body near the line.

I was personally encouraged by his positivity. He was prepared to have a dig even if it didnt come off eg taking that bomb on the fly.

Going forward i thought his linking play was better than Makinsons has been, though he needs more game time to get a better understanding.

He made more tackle busts and clean breaks than any of the other Saints players and was easily our top metre maker.

For me its just a case of nurturing him, so that he is used to playing at a higher level. He is only 19 and i think would blossom if exposed to a full season in the championship on loan. He wont get better just watching from the sidelines.

How the hell did you beat Cas? My mate went to the Leeds Widnes game last week & texted to say Widnes are the worst team he has seen in SL. Apart from effort they have no flair whatsoever but still did enough to beat you. Christ, have you got problems. Giving a 3 year deal to a lump of lard at 7 is symptomatic.

Watch how many times Wilkin cannot turn someone on there back in a tackle. On at least 10 occasions last night Wilkin needed another two or three team mates come in to help him complete the tackle especially on AH Van.
