Sorry - my reference was that of the year when Wigan were nearly relegated, the year they took Noble and Fielden.

It's a bit ironic of Diskin to say what he did, since his raison d'etre is to run at markers not square from the play-the-ball. Perhaps, referees should let those go as well?

In 2001, Wigan finished 2nd and didn't drop any lower than 5th. So certainly not a year we were concerned with being outside the playoffs, never mind being in the relegation zone.

It was a retort from a Saints fan who disputed the "Saints Reduction Factor" in calculations of bans.

It has been shown to be rubish. Remember the good friday brawl? Wilde holding a player while Newton waded into him. This then turns into Feunati on wilde, scully and Farrel involved too. We had a ban total of 4 or 5 games for that. Not a single wigan player got a ban. Kinda shows your theory to be as poor as the one about the world being flat.

Clearly they would have got a total of 15 matches under normal rules, then.

As for your kind offer of a reference, even if I ever needed one, no thanks. I'd prefer someone with a grasp of English to write any reference for me.
