I remember commenting on that throughout the game. There's no wonder the defence got tired and Wigan could break the line at will. Presumably they were trying to be tough and hit hard in defence?

Im not too sure whether they are being told to shove men into the tackle and slow down the play of the ball, but in the middle of the park especially there we're bradford tacklers piling in on mass. Cue a gap behind the ruck area to be exploited. Im not a Bulls fan but I see alot of there games so I'm pretty impartial and what they seem to be doing doesn't make sense. As a kid when I was growing up (And admittedly it was at amateur and basic level) I was always coached "you run in pairs" and Bradford didn't seem to be doing this. it was always one man rugby. I was always taught that your two alf backs, hooker and Full back we're your thinkers and planners when your on the field. Its always been they have called the plays and these have been the architects of your ofensive moves. Bradfords halves hardly look like this do they??? Either way I recognise I'm not a coach but thats my opinion. I don't think there is as much as some people suggest wrong at Bradford but I do think where there is something wrong is in Key Areas???

Its been recognised something needs to be done with an approach for Bird...Its not been followed up though and look at results......I hope bradford can sort it and get moving in the right direction; with maybe a slip up on the 10th of April

The trick is to pull of one by one and fill the gap behind the ruck so that when the guy plays the ball the defensive line is set. If you can get the attacker on his back and facing the wrong way even better.

As you say it's no good getting bodies into the tackle if you're going to let the guy up before everyone is ready so that the attacking side can steal cheap yards behind the ruck.

This particular area has been a problem for us for years. Even during the glory years we sometimes struggled to contain Saints around the ruck as they had good technique and good dummy half runners. Now any SL team seems better organised and has better technique!

then it makes sense to recall Halley and put him and Crookes into the team against hull as no doubt semi and nero will still be carrying their knocks

but i expect to see no change to the selection or the tactics

Sense?
When does that come into it? Don't be silly.
I for one won't be surprised to see Halley stay at Wakefield, have two injured players play on, hopefully not in their normal postitions, a scrum half move to hooker, a second row to prop, a loose forward to stand off and a stand off to scrum half. We can them put some second rowers on the bench so thry can fit in anywhere, and a youngster to take the last bench spot but then obviously not play them.

we had the same problem when cooke left ,no direction but loads of effort we brought in matty head and started winning ,last year was a total loss as we had 9 internationals missing most weeks and our 2 halfbacks most weeks ,injuries reaaly do affect you in the wrong postions ,tbh i think Bulls halfs are poor anyway ,there no creator ,Bird was a massive loss

Not sure there are enough second rowers featuring in that plan

One change I'd seriously consider would be to give Crookes a chance. Sykes hasn't set the world on fire so far, and if Tadulala was to be injured Sykes might play on the wing.

I'm sure McNamara said that if players weren't playing well others would come in, lets see it.

did you see sykes efforts on the wing in the world cup? atm sykes isnt performing point blank and assuming nero is fit then sykes should be dropped for crookes. Halley in for semi if he's injured. If semi's fit then difficult choice who to drop to accomodate halley as sheriffe and semi are pretty much on a par at the moment ( cos neithers getting any service) and much as I hate to say it Platt was probably the only back to be able to hold his head up after saturday ( although if he's injured then obviously halley slots in at fullback)
