Good scrum halfs are difficult to find i grant you but at the moment we haven't even got a recognised scrum half!

Kavanagh did ok at Trinity and did long minutes when given the chance. Think he's best at prop.
As for scrum half you ought to snap up Pita Godinet as he top quality and should have been retained by Trinity..good at one on one ball steals!

He's pretty good at 2 on 1 ball steals as well ;)

He's a good player and has been mentioned a few times on here. We're still hopeful that someone will be signed [Godinet or Sammut would certainly be nice..], though as I've said before, it's not really important before the eights as what we've got will carry us through the early season.

I agree, the squad as it stands has enough about it to get a top 2 finish in the regular season as I still see the Championship as a 2 horse race between ourselves and Leigh.

We've got space on the cap as well as a free spot on the overseas quota, therefore I see no reason to rush to make a signing. More so as we're now into pre-season and any player lacking a club will start to get panicy about having a job for next year meaning their wage demands could be lowered to a more budget friendly level.

Watch the replay....close but 1 on 1 at time of contact. Even not counting that you'd have lost.

Godinet will be back in NZ and the opportunity lost if not signed within the next month IMHO. Better than Sammut. Hopefully Trinity are having a change of mind and are off loading Hall to resign Godinet as there insufficient cover and he can play 6,7,9.

It's not inconceivable that, he or someone else, has already been signed but just not yet announced. To be honest it's quite likely.

Saying which is the better between Sammut and Godinet is like comparing chalk and cheese; Sammut is the unpredictable sort who will pull out some magic [when it comes off..] and win the game on his own, whilst Godinet is more the traditional organiser. Who is best depends on what your needs are and, more importantly, who they are to be partnered with. For us, With Gasky who can organise a bit himself and is a great back up player, he 'd be a 'fit' for either imo.

I think some of you guys could be pleasantly surprised by kavanagh. When he came to wakefield last season i felt pretty much the same as some of the comments on here. But he came and put in a good spell for us, nothing fancy but made good metres, very few errors and did not give away penalties or miss many tackles.

I would personally think he would get in your front row ahead of a few names mentioned. When we played you in the 8s i thought it was your front row which was very weak.( ferguson aside, who was very good, although not sure prop is his best position) and failed to get any go forward.

Depends what you are looking for from your props i guess, but i reckon he will go ok for you.

Both of the top Championship Teams last year had not been aware totally of the intensity of the middle eights and subsequently went all out to win their games. As it turned out many of their players were carrying injuries and were exhausted when the last eights came about. Hopefully we now understand what this illogical system of supposed promotion and relegation is about. Doesn't do much for the supporter or the game itself I am of the opinion.
