Us staying in Championship or getting promotion won't come in to it. He will be signing a new contract in the summer whatever shape we are in. That will probably be a SL team. For him to stay with us it means no SL team want him come May/June and then he will say he never wanted to leave. We won't know till October where we are playing. His contract will be signed well before that.
As far as Leon is concerned, I was thinking this the other night watching Hull and would see this as an admission of us staying in the championship. I would be gutted to replace Gaskell with Leon. It won't be just Gaskell leaving. It could be a hand full of our best as this year they are out of contract. Last October they weren't and that makes a big difference.
