You'd love to think so, guess it depends how developed they are, like you I don't follow the U19's anymore but I'd trust that Diskin would know how they are developing and expose them to the 1st team at the right point. I think if we are to spend another couple of years down in the championship (or even if we go up tbf) we'd be better served prioritising cash on developing the juniors and getting them through into the 1st team even if some inevitably move on to other clubs. I'd rather develop 10 potential first teamers due to investment in youth coaching and lose 5 to SL teams than develop 1 or 2 by luck and rely on the availability of more expensive journey men. If we can develop more home grown players, who tend to have an initially lower impact on the cap and wage bill, and then (correctly hopefully Mr Ferres) target remaining cap spend on experienced players who make a real difference in key positions, that way it will be easier to maintain a FT environment than the current scattergun approach to recruitment.
Mick, how old were the two half backs playing against Wigan?
