Don't know if this has been mentioned, he passed over on Monday. Remember meeting him in Hull.Great man and exceptional player in his time. R.I.P. If only we had someone like him in his prime....

right now, someone a quarter as good as the great Roger-the-dodger would suit us.

Roger the Dodger. Put him in this team and we would be in SL next year. That's how good and also inspirational he was, for the young 'uns who don't know. Next to him, Gaskell would score 100 tries a season.

I’m too young to have seen him in his prime (honest) but from what I’ve seen on video and read he was one of the best. That try he scored in the decider to win the Ashes in Australia in 1970 was a good one. Still can’t work out what Eddie Waring is saying in the commentary though.

Given that, due to being somewhat of an injury liability, Gaskell only plays about 4 games a season, this is a tad unlikely.

I was fortunate- I saw him when he was in his pomp. Absolutely brilliant player and when I was in his company years later after a match, I found him one of the nicest blokes I have encountered.Sheer class. RIP.

What a player he was, used to hate going to Craven Park when he was on the pitch pulling us all over the place, but you had to marvel at him and how brave he was for his size.

Legend is often used for those who aren't really, not for Roger, he truly was a very, very special rugby league player
