He brought us our best ever years as far as trophies are concerned - unfortunately it was all done by spending the family silver. His apprarent belief that crowds woud rise for ever and ever was his biggest error - that and then blaming the fans for not turning up. The money spent on buying a successful team was actually from the council and really intended for ground maintenance.
As I've said, repeatedly, over the years, the decisions taken at that time left the later boards constantly fighting for financial survival and whilst, for sure, many further mistakes have been made, the chairmen from Hood onwards had all taken a poisoned chalice, with the results we have seen over the last ten years.
