Theres a point. Severance pay doesn't equate to resignation for me! But maybe if he was due more some of it was used in the settlement?

Ridiculous utterly unjustifiably large sum of cash to be paying to someone with a poor track record who is staying on to work for the RFL anyway.

Too right. Nigel will be charging vast expenses for his consultancy role to swan off to New York and Boston on top of his £500k compensation. Meanwhile clubs over hear are on the breadline unable to afford basics.

Great use of the game's resources I don't think. Who agreed this package for him? Who signed it off?

I'm amazed nobody is kicking up a fuss about this.

Media are too scared to, or they'll be blacklisted like Hannan has been for questioning the higher ups.

Ridiculous closed shop at the RFL. I'd (Stevoism) bet the house on Rimmer getting the big job. Would be a terrible decision, but it's the way they work.

If the severance deal was part of his contract then the RFL should explain. They should also explain why he's leaving that role if it's costing the game so much. Is it really good business and value for money? It certainly doesn't look like it.

Nigel Wood seems to be getting more money from the RFL than many clubs. If he cleared £314k last year in salary and gets a further £500k pay off now that's almost £1m to one man in just over a year - not counting what he'll be getting in his new consultancy role.

No wonder Rimmer wants the job.

If Nidge hasn't finished his season then I'd say a 12 pie deduction and dropping down a pay grade was in order.

Giving him a better salaried job and big lump of Wonga as pay off after leaving his current position would have been a teensy bit like the RFL giving us a place in SL, on full SL money and a Brucie bonus to go with it, immediately after we checked out on going bust.

All the money withheld from us for rugby debts, halved centeral funding etc has actually being going in a pot for years at back of nigels desk drawer to fund his payoff
