Greg McNally : Wed May 23, 2018 7:32 am
As a Leigh fan just interested to see how he's doing - would expect him to get tries for fun at league 1 level but not seen his name banded about much

He tore his quad badly about 8 weeks ago and has been out since unfortunately.

Hopefully he'll be back soon.

Well that clarifies that - hope he's back soon for you end of season charge, sure he'll help you get back into the champ :thumb:

I was very impressed with Greg up to the injury. Very safe under the high ball and I don’t remember him dropping one. A little reluctant to run it back himself but the odd time he did he often caused havoc.

I think he was due back for the cup game vs wolves but pulled up in training and now is due back for the crusaders game.

He should be a good threat on the dry pitches but he might have a job on to force Pickersgill out of the side

I'd guess that, when fit Greg will be straight back in the side, but that would be very unfair on young Pickers who has been outstanding, both covering fullback and in the halves. Something tells me the kid certainly won't be out of the first team for long, if at all.

I like Pickersgill, but I just wish he had a bit more pace/acceleration. The Newcastle fullback was lightning quick by comparison.

I was impressed by Ritson's speed too. I thought we dealt pretty well by not kicking to him.

Of the two I think Pickersgill is the more complete player as is more durable. Ritson is very slight and seemed to suffer a bit in contact.

Both are young and will improve. Ritson I think needs to fill out physically and improve his reading of the game so he can inject himself into play more.

Pickersgill I agree could work on his pace but I think the better he gets at reading the game will help him pop up in the right places. I remember Michael Withers wasn't all that quick but had an incredible ability to be in the right place at the right time.

Was going to post something very similar about him not seeming to have any pace at all but had the knack of popping up at the perfect moment. Great to watch.

Yeah, he wasn't known as 'the ghost' for nothing!
