We have seen Danny Addy play second row, hooker, loose forward, stand off, and centre (for Scotland). But where is he most effective?

Left second row for me. I like the idea of a back row of donno, addy and ferguson. with support from the likes of mellor, roberts, and olbison.

I don't think we have anyone who has made LF their own in the squad now that Langley & Bateman have gone.

Interesting to see who gets the 13 jersey.

Addy is the guy at the head of the queue to get first crack at 13. I think Ferguson will be a starting 2nd row man and Donno/Olbi/Walker the other.
Winterstein would seem to fit the bill for the impact 2nd row man off the bench.

I would prefer not to see Addy at centre ever again...

He’s a bit of a conundrum. He’s got good core skills and is very versatile. Perhaps a bit too small for the backrow unless he can improve his defence and develop a more forceful carry of the ball. He’s more of a playmaker than a runner but he needs to develop his running side of the game. If he can do that he’d be in my 17. Glad we kept him as his versatility will be important next year with our small squad.

Ball playing LF for me... you think of the likes of A. Farrell, P. Sculthorpe, Kevin Sinfield, Willie Manu, Shaun O'Loughlin just off the top of my head... all great players at LF with good hands that did/do more than take on the big guys down the middle.

Before anyone jumps at me for suggesting Addy to be on par with these guys... i'm not, its just that we have had Langley for so long who wasn't a ball player and would do the hard yards week in week out but would never string the pass out when it was on. Addy could really grow into the 13 shirt and make it his own once and for all.

Just my opinion.

I think Danny's versatility along with the proficiency he displayed in the different positions, makes me wonder just how there seemed to be such doubt he would get another deal. It looks totallybarmy now that we might have let him go.

I've got a feeling that L'Estrange leaving and Diskin's general lack of fitness will mean he spends most of 2014 at hooker

13 without a doubt.

I agree we will probably see him at 9 for some of the season, but I hope he gets a fair chance to make the 13 spot his own.

I think his run out in the halves last year will stand him in good stead no matter where he plays and I'd expect him to play every week as long as form and fitness hold

Just to emphasise a few points; Langley was the first prop at loose forward in SL, a trend which has carreid through the league now. And I also think Addy will become the bence hooker. But a lot depends on the form fitness of Donaldson too. Even more on the improvement of Addy in defence. Let's not forget we've Walker to shoehorn in somewhere, irrespective of form.

I think Addy's best postition is loose forward, however I think he'll be back-up hooker.
