Not quite right, he was still upended with his feet higher than his head, and yes he was ducking his head probably in the hope of being rolled onto his back, that certainly contributed to his injury, but the defenders still have a duty of care and that's what the judiciary will say, the problem is you cannot choreograph that type of tackle & intensity in training. I can see a rule change coming from the NRL outlawing that type of tackle as an overreaction. I hope like everyone else he makes a full recovery and has the chance to continue playing.

His feet only became higher than his head once he dipped his head to roll forward which then lifted his standing foot off the ground.

No mate, the third man in lifted his leg and he was stood vertical when that happened to him.

"Alex McKinnon Neck Injury From Awkward Tackle" on yer tubes, not that I advise watching it past ten seconds or so.

He thought he was going right over and he tucked his head to roll through it. The other two tacklers had his upper body and they prevented him from going over.

Nothing malicious in it though for me, just an unfortunate accident.

Watching its a combination of a couple of things, if he had kept his head up the motion would not have forced his upper body done causing him to spear into the ground.

The third man does lift a leg but that alone i dont thing would be cause enough to have him driven down like that.

Possible 2 years recovery

Hope he has a speedy recovery. I was just wondering who was the player who had a similar accident and after recovering continued playing but wore a neck brace for games, played Centre for Aus I think.
