Bidders - how did they stack up : Thu Mar 27, 2014 8:16 pm
From grabbing various articles this is seemingly how they stacked up so it is interesting to see what Marc Green brings to the table.

Marc Green - 45 million turn over per year.
“There is no messing with him – he’s straight-talking and he said he had 800 people working for him and five companies with a turnover of £45million per year.
http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/s ... lding_job/

Bradford Park Avenue consortium - Billionaire involved.
Kevin Hainsworth, who was part of the Bradford Park Avenue bid, said Gareth Roberts, non-executive chairman of Petro Harvester and said to be worth about £8 billion.

Lamb consortium (and Abi Ekoku) - Apparently had millionaire property developers involved.

Mandy (Marwan) Koukash - Worth 900 Million AUD (Around 500 million GBP)

I do like the fact that Greens companies turn over around 45 million per year, but don't remember seeing any facts regarding how much of that is profit.

Willey has been on the FB page today saying that regardless of the bids put forward, she's confident that the BPA bid would not have been ratified.

The figure of £45m is pure fantasy. He is registered at Companies House as a director of 4 active companies. Each and every one of those companies is able to file abbreviated accounts, meaning turnover of less than £6.5m, so even if each company was up to the threshold (which they aren't) it could only be a maximum of £26m.

Just as a side point, the figures quoted in your koukash link is in dollars, not pounds. $900m is less than £550m ;)

Not technically true. Depending on how the gross assets stack up on the balance sheets of those companies, and also the number of employees each company has, the turnover could be any figure you like and it would still be classed as a small company and could file abbreviated accounts.

I wouldn't like to guess as to what assets might be present on his balance sheets as I'm not even 100% sure what the principal activities of his companies are!

So how come we end up with the investor with the least money to put in?

Well he claims to have 800 employees so that rules out the under 50 employees exemption. You must meet 2 of the 3 criteria so therefore the turnover must be less than £6.5m and the assets less than £3.2m to qualify for small business exemption.

FWIW, his 4 companies have total net assets of just £58k
