Serious question here.

When is Marc Green going to show some ambition and invest in the playing squad?

Derek Beaumont is investing heavily in Leigh, showing that killer ambition, making a statement of intent by signing players of quality. Whilst we appear to be looking at Youtube clips and our fellow Championship clubs to raid.

I just don't understand his reluctance to bring in suitable reinforcements that tick that box marked quality. Surely this perceived negative approach from Green is having a detrimental affect on membership sales?

The season he took us down we were promised reinforcements that never materialised. Years in the championship and a slowly deteriorating club beckon unless investment in the playing squad is at the forefront of the Bradford Bulls ethos.

Marc as said all along that the club will be run on in 'business like manner', which, to my mind, precludes big 'investments'. I guess he's spending up to the expected income, just as he said.

On the other hand, I think Beaumont is as much 'fan' as investor, in the sense he's prepared to throw his own money at the club in the hope it succeeds, and isn't totally stuffed if it doesn't. If I had zillions of pounds I'd probably do the same, but I haven't, and truth be told, if that was my business attitude I probably wouldn't deserve to have any money either. RL does seem to be selling its soul to the 'sugar daddies' though, doesn't it.

It's a marked improvement on the instantaneous implosion that we were looking at a few years ago, Mr Hood.

Does buying back the Odsal lease not count? I'm pretty sure he isn't using our central funding to buy it back with. Or at least I bloody well hope he isn't!

If we get any outside investment at all, I would sooner see it go to junior development than signing a few short term 'superstars'.

Have to agree,but to most players,Bradford Bulls is still a big Club.I would,in Leigh's case,suggest we could match the wages offered,but not the accompanying enticements.

The big problem could be that perhaps his ambition runs as far as buying back Odsal.

Green isn't as wealthy as Beaumont. When he says he's running the club as a business that means it's living off what it makes and no more. I suspect he's covering any shortfalls to keep us afloat but that's all he can afford.

Something that everyone overlooks as well is that in Greens first year in charge the season ticket money had already been spent by the previous bunch. So he had to cover that loss of income. He'd have been within his rights to make everyone pay on gates and not honour the tickets sold by previous administration, Of course that would have gone down like a lead balloon with fans and I suspect RFL may made honouring the tickets a requirement of granting a license.

Greens never said he was going to invest heavily in club. He's always said it had to finance itself. Hence the emphasis on building up commercial side of the operation.

As for the Leigh model, it's very much boom or bust. If they don't make SL next year? I'm still not convinced that signing a bunch of players from an unhappy environment at Salford is a sound move, no matter what their ability on paper.

I am not sure its a case of boom or bust, although if it doesn't come off this year DB may rein in his spending somewhat and if we can get that 5th or 6th and not spectacularly implode it won't be too much of a hardship to him and may allow for a 3rd attempt (if we need it that is ).
