would certainly make a lot of sense if we released tupou. We've got halley as cover and it says a lot about the clubs opinion of tupou that they list him as a utility back rather than a winger on the website. Whilst any payout would count on the cap, if he's released through injury which is preventing him playing, then the payout would be less than his full wage for the season which, together with money were saving not paying bird till may/june would give us enough cap space for another player. Reading between lines looks like we may have identified a possible target and are clearing the decks so to speak.
