Re: SL Clubs walk out : Thu Oct 24, 2013 7:54 am
This just sums up the RFL and their shambolic running of the game.To me it's not whether the six who walked out are in the right or the wrong,it's the fact it's 2 days before the World Cup starts and this is the main news. The RFL have had months to come up with any new format. If anyone at the RFL had the know how to make a right decision they should of told all concerned months ago there is a new league format, end of.But they ask everyone what their thoughts are and drag it on and on and on till it comes to this on the eve of the World Cup.they preside over one disaster after another.

How many times was any new format talked about on Super League Backchat in the last couple of month of the season,it seems all are clueless at the RFL

Get rid of them all and get Maurice Lyndsey back to run it all

I also think he's right here as well.

You can't continually rearrange the chairs on the Titanic and not change the captain. Selfish self interest, yes. Completely without foundation, no. I don't think is as much about structure as cash and personnel. The RFL need the cash from SL/Sky and the 6 Chairmen are saying Wood must go.

Interesting tweet from Salford owner Koukash (real account) last night.....

" I am not the greatest lover of RFL or Wood. There need to be a change and need to start delivering real value"

This was from a club that didn't walk out on the vote. The RFL are dubbing the 6 clubs as the minority, but I get the feeling that they are just playing with the words to make the 6 look like outcasts. Looking at what people are posting on social media, I think that has worked to some extent, many people are calling the clubs greedy, but I'm with M@islebugs, the clubs are wanting the RFL to start looking at themselves.

If that was the case they should have had the vote then. The only logical reason they walked out was to stop the vote. I have no problem with anyone questioning the RFL, but to me they have an impossible job. When I see a sensible alternative I will happily support it. Posters want the RFL to listen to the clubs but at the same time want an authoritarian figure in charge. It's one or the other.

Tigs I think if the RFL were to be trusted to make the right decisions there would be no need to consult the clubs.

Tigs is right. You either have a process or you don't.

The general disdain for Woods and the failure to increase sponsorship is no secret within the game. Why have they waited until now to stand up? These issues should have been raised at the outset and a formal letter asking for resignations presented.

Should vote without them. Surely you strop off and walk out, you lose your vote? They could always vote no?

Sometimes change comes from revolution.

Interested to hear how other posters are seeing this. From the outside it looks like a coup. Wood/Solly have presented proposals to abandon licensing and alter structure and a number of Chairmen appear belatedly to have said the problem isn't entirely the structure - it's YOU.

There's a clamour for the return of P and R but it didn't work last time. The management of the licensing system and in particular the financial auditing of the clubs also leaves something to be desired. I haven't spoken to anyone who gets or thinks the 3 x 8 idea is a good one. GH, who normally talks sense, says the 6 Chairmen have caused chaos but it looks awfully like it was chaos anyway. What does chaos x chaos = ?

Pretty much agree with that.

There seems to be an assumption that the other, non-walking clubs, would vote in favour of the motion but as the vote wasn't taken, no-one can actually know this is true. The whole business of two leagues moving to three halfway through the season has always seemed an ill thought out, disaster in the making to me but they won't stop it by walking out.

I'm not certain, but I think it meant they were not quorate so couldn't vote after the walk-out. Hence a clever tactic.
