Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

I seem to remember that a figure of £70,000 was quoted on these board as being the amount that it costs to even open the gates of Odsal and stage a game.

If that's correct we'd need 3500 just to break even, assuming its £20 on the gate.

I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong, but it sticks in my mind that the £70K figure was banded around as the reason why we seldom - at least until now - ever have pre season friendlies at home.

3500 to attend a meaningless pre season friendly and pay £20 a go?????

That is an absurd suggestion.

In fact, are you Ryan Whitcutt?

I'm definitely not him, and if there is absurdity it's in the idea that putting in an extra pre season game will make a dent in the £400K shortfall

I notice nobody gas rebutted my figures. Am I correct in saying this figure has been quoted? Or am I just dreaming it? If true it would seem that the game might end up up losing us money which really would be 'absurd'

Well we know you won't be putting any money into the club at any point.

The cost of making Odsal operational on a match day is definitely not as high as the £70,000 you're suggesting.

When the administrators took over the running of the club, there was £23,431 in the club bank account. The administrators used this money " to cover the costs of the home fixture against London Broncos held on the 8th. July 2012."

It's only three years ago that we played both Halifax and Wakefield at Odsal Stadium in the pre-season.

A quick look at my notes says we had two reasonable gates of 4,448 (vs Halifax) and 4,047 (vs Wakefield).

Peter Hood told me that the cost of opening Odsal was £22,000, hence why he was saying that we would actually lose money on hosting the recent Challenge Cup game game against Doncaster (72-6).

If Peter Hood told you, it must be true.

Sounds more realistic than my £70K which I'd obviously mis-remembered.

Probably more like £25,000 now a few years on, but still - if we can get maybe 4-5000 through the gate - quite a decent money earner
