I think that's an interesting point, and I guess you'd need to see all their income and expenditure streams to answer it properly. Of course, for next season, we need to remember that things are changing a bit, too.

Working on £1m, for round figures, which is I believe is going to be somewhere near the cap in the the Championship next year, then you can go with an average of £40K for a 25 man squad - which means you could keep a full time squad of journeymen - providing you are generating the income. Obviously, in reality contracts will vary and many of the youngsters won't be getting near that amount initially so there would be room for an odd 'better' player. Just hoping we don't have to find out, to be honest.

I wonder how much our squad costs if you take out the overseas players, Gale and Diskin.

TBH if we go down I can see us losing the overseas players, Diskin (to retirement), Ferguson and Gale at the very least. I’d say that Blythe, Foster, Gaskell, Sidlow and O’Brien could get places at other SL clubs. The rest I’m not so sure about. They wouldn’t look out of place in the championship.

Someone will take Elliot Kear without a doubt. He's been solid for us all season and I'm sure several SL clubs would consider him an improvement on what they currently have.

Kear is capable of doing a job for a mid/lower level SL team but he hasn’t the pace or skills to make it with a top 5 club. I wish some others would show his enthusiasm.

Foster would be a decent player in a top team. He doesn't have the self confidence though to tough it out.

Foster would be great if you could get bring him on to knock over the conversions but other than that he doesn't have a great deal else to offer I'm afraid. He isn't quick, he isn't big either, he isn't convincing under the high ball. Really hasn't offered much so far this year for me.
