I certainly don’t expect the RFL to say to us that we can stay up because of this mess. A 12 team SL is set in stone.

The RFL will spin it that the clubs being relegated from the championship are being done so on the basis of their performance on the field. They’ll gloss over the dual reg fiasco since they won’t want to draw attention to their inability to organise the proverbial get together in a brewery.

Seems to me that dual reg does more harm than good. I’d get rid, there’s too much potential for abuse of the system and administrative balls ups taking the attention off the game and onto the hapless, useless administrators.

As for the potential loss of a derby versus Keighley that’s a shame as it was a game I could’ve walked to.

Shame. I was looking forward to long arguments on RLFans about whether Bradford vs Halifax or Bradford vs Keighley was the REAL derby.

What is the ruling all about? Why have some teams been deducted points?

A very short version is Batley and Doncaster fielded Ineligible duel reg super league players after the deadline (in place to stop teams loading up to get somewhere in the league). RFL found them guilty and took 3 points. Appeal panel gave the 3 points back because evidence was found of other clubs flaunting the rules a.k.a cheating so couldn't enforce it. Yes fair enough whether they knew or not the rules are complicated. But so is Sunday league village cricket with a 100 page rule book, but everyone gets on just fine.

Overall it's a bit scandalous because cheating with intelligible players has gone unpunished. Batley won their game with that intelligible player scoring. Punishment: nothing.

Keighley may get relegated on the back of 3 losses, possibly fair enough. Or is it? We would otherwise be safe now with the 3 points deduction.

So they don't get a point deduction because others have done it too? What a strange ruling. Definitely sounds like a RFL special. So worth cheating then by the sounds of things.

Yes the evidence came in the appeal, various historical breaches mean no one can be punished. Surely, you would think, all should be punished.

So we may/may not see you next year! I think I'll give up on the game if we get relegated to be honest. Duel reg is destroying it

To retrieve the situation the rugby league board of directors itself should meet urgently, over rule the lot of them and reinstate the 3 point penalties this week with no appeal allowed. Batley and Doncaster might have tantrums but the rest of the game should tell them to like it or lump it. Nobody forced them to break the rules.
