Even taking clubs explanation at face value and it is a mistake, yet again it's terrible timing at start of season ticket push. Combined with ferres' articles can see our total being significantly lower this year. I'll be holding on while until things settle down before renewing ours for sure.
Yep, this is possibly the club’s hardest season ticket sell in our recent past – and that’s saying something considering the past 5 years. Having been through the system once, the “adventure” of 2nd tier rugby is wearing off, and people have quickly become aware that the 8s are the main act and the regular season is a very long warm up. Of course you’ve got to be in it to win it, but I’ve got a feeling that there will be less people willing to sit through the entirety of the warm up in 2016 and onwards.
Like you say, reports like this today don’t help. I too am willing to give the current lot the benefit of the doubt (is it only Mick Gledhill saying Green is looking to sell, or is it anyone else?) – but the current incumbents really are in the last chance saloon with stuff like this, not entirely by their own doing I admit, but such is life when you take on a damaged club. I wouldn’t blame people having been through the past few years, seeing a few more headlines like this and packing it in long term. The club cannot take the board deceiving the fans again in such a short period of time, it would be very damaging.
I know that sounds hyperbolic/worst case scenarios and it may or may not be nothing but some serious firefighting is needed by the club over this, however innocuous it may be as I think a lot of fans are understandably scarred from our previous adventures with the tax office – and beyond.
