Squad numbers mean even less as far as the 17 when it comes to late or new signings.

That's perfectly true, but my observation was just on Roofaldo's comment about the club "waiting until the recruitment was finalised". I agree, it would hardly be the first time players were added after the shirt presentation night.

I tend to think they may be better off giving Jacks a high squad number anyway if he does sign. If they give him the number 7 shirt, it brings an immediate expectation from fans. At least if he was number 32 or something, it perhaps reflects the idea that he's an unproven quantity and don't set your expectations too high just yet.

I can see your logic, though the fact he's on trial is a definite nod in that direction anyway.

True, but to the more casual fan that doesn't necessarily keep up with the T&A and online matters, they may not know it was a trial situation anyway.

Ha, indeed! I always tend to believe I'm probably more, 'out of the loop', than most but it's most likely not the case at all. Anyone else have bulls.co.uk as their homepage.........
