To be fair to such as Olbi, Danny Addy and Adam O'B, all of whom looked, 'the business', back in SL, it must be more difficult to kick on without having better opposition.

I think, last season, there was maybe, a bit of a sense of 'going native' in the long drawn out championship section of the league programme and then finding it hard to get back up to the pace when the games got tougher. Hopefully, better rotation this season may help end some of the ennui [and sheer fatigue, in one case] and keep players on their toes a bit more.

I still argue the difference in officiating doesn't help either. The standard of referees in the Championship is often appalling, and a much slower PTB is allowed. Just as the better teams start to acclimatise to that, you go into the Super 8s with some better officials and a quicker PTB and you're off the pace.

Oh absolutely - to think how we moaned about SL refs on occasions.....

I think the normal championship standard of reffing the ptb to the speed of the slowest team kills the decent sides. You can see that it is one way of keeping the scores within the same ballpark and pretending we have a 'level' league though, which, I guess, is why they are told to do it.

Having seen with my own eyes the gulf in quality between SL refs and the Championship I had to laugh at how Leeds fans moaned about James Child last year.

I'd have him as our ref every week in the championship if I could.
