To be fair, they've also won it three times, but if you compare our 100% record in finals they're nowhere near us. Percentages are, of course, as I've always said, of primary importance in these matters.

I was going to post a league table of WCC wins based on % success rate. But Sydney Roosters are top on points difference, not us. So I didn't bother.

Oh no, no no - I was only counting finals and I don't think we can be beaten on that particular statistic.

I was only counting finals too. The Roosters have played three and won three, same as us. 1976, 2003 and 2014.

1976: 25 - 2 win against Saints
2003: 0 - 38 win against Saints
2014: 36 - 14 win against Wigan

3 - 0 for wins, PD of 83

For us it's:

2002: 41 - 26 against Newcastle
2004: 22 - 4 against Penrith
2006: 30 - 10 against Wests

3 - 0 wins, PD of 53

Sorry. We're second.

And the Roosters scored five tries in that first WCC game in '76, in the days of three point tries, so they'are actually a little further ahead.

Since they weren't called Sydney Roosters for the 1976 one (Eastern Suburbs), can you not just pretend that was a previous incarnation of the club and doesn't count? Admittedly, I struggle to justify that, but it sounds good.

It's statistically impossible to be second on 100%. Anyway, we beat three Aussie teams and they only beat three Pommie sides, so I reckon that trumps any PD arguments!

They're following us though - there's a billboard on Tong St exhorting the inhabitants of BD4 to "go on a journey" or somesuch with the Rhinos

I've missed that one. A journey with the rhinos, eh - maybe it's some firm doing safari tours through Africa, I think they would have more chance, tbh.

Mind, I've actually seen billboards around Bradford, saying how many minutes it takes, by rail, to London, though the times quoted seem to refer to journeys from somewhere further east, not Bradford. Legal, decent honest and truthful, Mmm..
