It's based on watching games. On anything I've seen this season, none of the Championship sides would have a cat in hell's chance against any of the SL sides on current form. Do you disagree? We certainly couldn't cope with any of them. We can't even handle Batley. It would take a minor miracle for certainly us to be at least competitive with any SL side this season. Leigh also look to be a factor less effective than when they were passably good last year. It's opinion, but mine is that presently any of the SL sides would be 50 points better than us. You seriously suggest we could be competitive? It would be embarrassing.
If we at Leigh, can get a few injuries sorted and improve our defence, then I would say 10 to 1 is about fair, at this present moment in time we would have no chance whatsoever of promotion.

Don't disagree, no.
But there's a lot of Rugby to play still. The magical "7" coming on board and us hitting some form defensively and offensively would put us in a different place.
I'd say the same of Leigh too.
Sometimes there is the subconscious playing up or down to the opposition you are playing? Have we gone into some of our games expecting the opposition to roll over? Will SL teams do similar in the 8's? Salford last year? Will the Championship clubs up their games? Will a couple of SL team hit some really poor form? The fact they in the bottom 4 suggest they will be already....? Will a SL side have an unfortunate injury run?
I think there are too many ifs, buts and maybe's to write it off completely.
But there is a gap in class between the divisions for sure, yes.
I don't get this theory the the MPG is un-winnable as a championship side.
With 2 "fairly" matched sides surely the underdog has a chance in a game of 80 mins?
There is an enormous difference between the speed of SL games and division 2, particularly at the play the ball It's just about impossible to play all year at Div 2 speed, against div2 opposition, and then to just 'turn it on' for the play off games. It would be easier in a cup game, where there is less at stake, you might be able to take a higher placed club, 'by surprise', but there is too much at stake in the MPG, not least the players jobs, and there is no chance whatever that an SL club is going to think they have and easy day and get caught out. It would take an inordinate amount of, 'good luck', and 'things going our way', to overcome the disadvantages. Naturally, I'd cheer like a madman if it happened, but I'm just trying to be realsitic.

I agree it will be incredibly difficulty to turn it on like a tap.
However if you whine and moan about the system (which I think has crept into the team from what Lowes said last year) then you'll get burned. No coincidence that both Lowes and Tony Smith moaned about the Easter schedule in the media and both lost.
At the end of the day we hammered Salford, Leigh were comfortably beating Hull KR but i think their inexperience lost then that game rather than the speed of the ruck. They also only just lost to Wakey by a point I think. And part timers Halifax beat full timers Leigh and Bradford as well as pushing Widnes all the way.
Attitude can take you a long way and if we had the spirit and attitude of Halifax we would have a good chance of promotion.
You think Halifax moan that they have a fraction of the cap of Leigh and Bulls or the fact they have to do a weeks graft while the Bulls and Leigh train full time? No they roll their sleeves up and got stuck in and ran harder than us and tackled harder than us and got a victory over both in crucial games.
I don't think it matters what any Championship club does.
The question may as well be: Is a SL club going to implode before the end of the year (to a worse degree than Wakey last year)? If yes, one will go up, if no, they won't.
