Not like Mick to get carried away? Smith's only been here a few days. Do we now measure the success of a coach by the quality of their interviews before they start the job?

To be fair, he's only speaking of the 'feeling' around the club and going on last night's event he's got that right.

It's the honeymoon period, obviously, but he's certainly generated some good feeling - it was easy to detect last night. He's hit pole position by the early, first impression, [backed up by the promise of a fine CV] and now the race is to be won.

The feeling is certainly positive and he's saying all the right things along with a good CV.

A good thing for me is he won't have seen much of the squad or players so its a new page for all the players. Don't perform and they're out (it was no coincidence it was our best performance on Sunday when Rohan was watching the team for the first time) The players know they can't rely on being Jimmys favourite to get in the team.

The atmosphere last night was reminiscent of the early days of Super League.

We were presented with a coach who spoke articulately and conveyed clarity from the heart.

His intentions to structure our defence on the methods implemented in the NRL will see us go from the current 20.4 points a game conceded to 10.2 points. I know from speaking to Rohan, he wants to address this as a priority.

Friday night can't come soon enough. Rock n Roll.

I was particularly impressed by the way he dealt with the final question, which was based on the questioner's view (which I share) that it is basically almost impossible, and unrealistic, to think any Championship club could go up under the present system.

He simply refuses to even consider it. His mindset is that given the right motivation, preparation and determination, anything is possible and the thing is, he convinced me that he believes that, and has a great confidence in his own abilities to achieve things. The guy's a winner, and certainly talks well.

Also, Green was at great pains to give all the credit for the choice of and signing of Smith to Ferres.

To be realistic, what fans think is irrelevant in terms of where we finish up and I know 100% that the players and coaching staff have to believe. As a player I always believed anything was possible - in any sport, though, on a personal level, I was only too often proved wrong..

After Mark Green saying it was Steve's idea, Ferres himself was quick to push responsibility for the decision back onto the board. Whoever was the main instigator, it seems the vast majority at the forum were fully on board with it.

Which suggests that they're aware of the discord among the fanbase in regards to how boardroom decisions are perceived to be carried out and are wanting to mitigate those rumblings by presenting a united team front

Big difference by the new Coach in post match interview on Bulls TV compared to the old one, but it will be more interesting when we have a loss to make a better comparison
