It's not always as easy as people think though. Sheffield is very much a football city. Much the same problem Salford have despite essentially having all of Manchester to themselves. Even after football, RL isn't even the second sport of Sheffield, Ice Hockey probably is.
If the people in the city just aren't interested, there isn't always much you can do to change their minds.
That's not to say that it's an accurate assessment of Sheffield. It could just as easily be that the club have never put any effort in to getting people to turn up, and instead just expected them to do so eventually.
Whichever it is though, they've been handed a bad deck by this investor. If he has indeed pulled out after promising to fund them full time and after they've signed players on full time contracts, it's a really crappy thing to do. I don't want to see any club in trouble, regardless of whether they have 15,000 or 150 fans.
